Tissue Paper Pom-Poms

For a girlfriend's birthday party, I wanted to decorate with something festive but simple, so I borrowed this idea from my sister-in-law, Donna, who had found the craft instructions on Martha Stewart's website.  These pom-poms are easy to make and add that splash of color to any celebratation.

Materials:
  • 20 x 30 inch sheets of Tissue paper (20 x 20 works well too)
  • 18" floral wire (can substitute other wire, but I don't use string - it's too flimsy)

Step 1
Stack 8 sheets of same color tissue paper for each pom-pom.  Fold in 1-1/2" accordian folds.

Step 2
Bend wire in half and wrap around center of tissue folds, twisting twice to secure tightly to the width of the accordian folds.  Cut ends to form curves or points, depending on the final look you want to achieve.

Step 3
Gently separate each tissue, pulling toward the center; 4 sheets on top, then turn over to pull remaining 4 sheets to the center to round out one half.  Repeat on both sides of wire until you have the full pom pom.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Debbie !!
