Spring Has Arrived

In anticipation of Easter, fill a wire basket with speckled eggs to hide the glass vases.
The floral blooms look suspended in the basket.

Mom's Roses

Mom brought me rose buds from her garden four days ago, and this fragrant bloom has been enjoyed ever since.

As long as I can remember, Mom and Dad have cultivated their rose bushes through out the years with roses that decorated our front and back yards, and whose stems filled the house with freshly cut fragrances.  Mom knows the name of each rose, which escapes my memory even after she tells me the names.

I have never tried to grow roses, and always cringe when the rose bushes were pruned back each year to look like a bunch of dead branches.  But each spring, new blooms grow and flourish with such wonderful results.

Thanks for sharing your precious blooms, Mom.

Fall has Arrived!

As the temperature is getting a bit cooler and I pulled out a sweater for the first time this weekend, here are some flowers to celebrate Autumn's arrival.

I made this arrangement for a bridal shower yesterday.  I was so excited to find green hydrangeas with dark purple petal edges and they were on sale to top if off!

These roses were a rich burnt orange, with light peach on the outer petal, so the contrast went well with the Coffee Bean Berry accents. When I don't want the mixture of cut stems to show in the bottom of a glass vase, I wrap the vase in a complementary colored ribbon which finishes the floral arrangement with a clean look.  I adhere the ribbon to the vase with double sided tape down one seam and wrap away.
I ended up with extra flowers which I arranged as a larger centerpiece for a dinner party tonight.
Enjoy the colors of fall this September!
